Have you always wanted to organize a backpacking trip for yourself, or with a group of friends, but don’t know where to start? Or have you simply been waiting for a good excuse to hang out with like minded, outdoor enthusiasts for a fun weekend? Then our Ladies Weekend Out, Intro to Backpacking weekend is just what you’ve been looking for!
Join our Ladies Weekend Out, all female guide team, for a fun weekend of backpacking education, community, and camaraderie as we head out from the South Lake/Bishop Pass Trailhead in Bishop, CA ! Our Ladies Weekend Out, Intro to Backpacking event will be an education heavy weekend, focusing on what gear to bring into the backcountry, how to use it, how to minimize the weight of your pack, what food to bring, backcountry etiquette, Leave No Trace practices, obtaining a permit, reading maps and utilizing mapping software, rescue devices, and much more.
Ladies Weekend Out South Lake - Bishop includes 2 days of guided backpacking, 1 night of camping at a local campground and 1 night camping along the South Lake Trail that will take us towards Bishop Pass, one of many majestic doorways to the Eastern Sierra Mountains. FRIDAY
We’ll meet in the town of Bishop and spend our first night at a local campground, learning how to set up camp, prep backpacking meals, and connect with each other around the campfire as the sun sets over the stunning Eastern Sierra Range.
SATURDAY
On Saturday morning, we’ll pack up camp and hit the trail! starting from the South Lake/Bishop Pass Trailhead, where we’ll have the ability to choose from a variety of trails that best fits the group’s abilities. Our hike will take us 2–4 miles into the backcountry, where we’ll set up our next camp. The rest of the day will offer a mix of learning opportunities and optional hikes with lighter packs, giving everyone space to explore and grow at their own pace.
SUNDAY
We’ll wake up in the heart of the backcountry to stunning views, warm drinks, and a breakfast of your choice before breaking down camp and making our way back to the trailhead.

The South Lake/Bishop Pass trailhead is at 9,868’ elevation.
Each day out we will hike roughly 2.5-4 miles gaining ±1000’ elevation gain

All guests will be responsible for their own breakfasts, lunches. dinners and snacks each day during the trip. Guests will also be responsible for bringing their own backpacking equipment.
