Last fall, I had the pleasure of leading a "Learn to Crack Climb" clinic for a Ladies Weekend Out in Mammoth, California. Originally, we had planned to host the clinic in Joshua Tree, but due to a dangerous heat wave at the beginning of October, we decided to move it up north. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise—the weather was amazing, and the fall colors put on a spectacular show.
The real highlight was working with three incredible ladies who came to the clinic with all the necessary skills but were just a little short on confidence. Sometimes, all it takes is a small nudge—a bit of encouragement—to unlock the full potential that's already inside. Watching them grow more self-assured with each climb, trust their trad gear, and, most importantly, trust themselves, was nothing short of inspiring.
There’s a special kind of joy that comes from witnessing someone break through their own mental barriers. It’s about more than climbing—it’s about finding inner strength, and I feel fortunate to have been part of their journey toward confidence and self-reliance on the rock.
I can’t wait to see what the rest of this season brings!
